Inauguration of Solar Park in Cutral Co

The governor of Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa, accompanied by the mayor of Cutral Co, Ramón Rioseco, inaugurated the solar park of the locality that is already operational. This park, covering seven hectares, is part of the technological park of the municipality located on a 200-hectare site.

During the ceremony, a contract was announced with a company that will acquire the energy produced in the park for the next two decades. Furthermore, a cooperation agreement was signed to expand the capacity of the Solar Park by 30 megawatts, which will increase its installed capacity from 3.5 MW to 30 MW.

The solar park in Cutral Co currently has 5,580 solar panels mounted on 88 solar trackers. The mayor highlighted that this park was conceived to promote energy generation through advanced technology, considering the environment, future generations, and the transition towards a more sustainable energy matrix.

Governor Figueroa mentioned the importance of diversifying energy sources, considering that gas and oil reserves have a limited horizon. In this context, he emphasized the need to promote clean energy and the possibility of developing technological parks to enhance artificial intelligence at the local level.

The provincial executive head also referred to the challenges of obtaining fair energy royalties for the province, mentioning the historical difficulties in this aspect. Approved by the Wholesale Electric Market Agent, the energy produced by the solar park in Cutral Co has already started to be fed into the electrical grid.

In summary, the inauguration of this solar park in Cutral Co represents a significant advance in clean energy generation in the region, contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable energy matrix and less dependent on hydrocarbons.
