Court Lifts Electronic Monitoring for Francisco Sáenz Valiente

The Justice has decided to stop monitoring businessman Francisco Sáenz Valiente with an electronic ankle bracelet, investigated for the death of Brazilian model Emmily Rodrigues. The model fell from the sixth floor in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The decision was made by the criminal and correctional judge Louis Schelgel, who has ordered that the ankle bracelet be returned to the Directorate for Assistance of People Under Electronic Surveillance, dependent on the Ministry of Justice of the Nation.

The imposed restrictions will remain in effect, such as the prohibition of leaving the country and approaching the victim's family and witnesses who testified, and the obligation to appear before the court every 15 days, either virtually or in person. The request was made by the defense attorneys of Sáenz Valiente, Facundo Orazi and Rafael Cúneo Libarona.

Prosecutor Santiago Vismara and lawyer Raquel Hermida Leyenda, who represents Rodrigues' father, opined that Sáenz Valiente should continue wearing the electronic ankle bracelet. Prosecutor Vismara emphasized that the placement of the ankle bracelet was essential as an additional guarantee alongside the restrictions already imposed.

In the context of the investigation, the accused is lacking merit. In statements made in April 2023, Sáenz Valiente claimed that the model had a psychotic outbreak after consuming drugs in his apartment and, voluntarily and impulsively, jumped from the building's balcony. Forensic examinations indicated that Emmily's injuries were consistent with a fall from the sixth floor, showing no signs of defense or resistance, which supports the businessman’s version.
