The dean of the UBA Faculty of Pharmacy, Pablo Evelson, expressed his concern about the budget cuts in universities and the violence surrounding the university demands. Evelson emphasized that the audits in the institution are in order and that it is necessary to open channels of dialogue to reach a consensus on this issue. Furthermore, he highlighted that classes have not been suspended and that academic activities continue without setbacks.
"That is what I ask of the Government: to open channels of dialogue to reach a consensus," said the dean, stressing the importance of transparency in university audits. Evelson also pointed out that in many cases, university staff salaries are below the poverty line, which represents another significant challenge in the educational field.
Regarding the atmosphere of tension generated by the conflict between the government and the universities, Evelson emphasized the need to seek agreements for the upcoming year's budget. "We need to try to reach an agreement between the Chambers of Deputies and Senators for the 2025 budget," he stressed.
The dean of Pharmacy emphasized that university audits are public, and the results are available on the universities' websites. Regarding the symbolic occupations that occurred in some establishments, Evelson highlighted that most of them were of that nature and stressed the importance of keeping the dialogue open to resolve conflicts peacefully.
