AI in Argentine Schools: Ally or Distraction?

Argentina is implementing AI in education. Research shows that when used correctly, technology can become an integral part of learning, but it also sparks debate about the impact of mobile devices on students.

AI in Argentine Schools: Ally or Distraction?

Argentina is identified as one of the countries with the highest use and distraction from digital devices in the school environment. However, when properly integrated, technology becomes a natural part of the learning process. In the province of Tierra del Fuego, the educational program "EstudIA con Malvina" has been successfully implemented, using artificial intelligence as an interface to interact with students. The system adapts explanations and asks questions in real-time. The results showed high satisfaction: 8 out of 10 students evaluated the experience positively. Over 50% of interactions were focused on specific academic topics, such as Indigenous Peoples, history, and territory. This confirms that AI does not replace content but improves access to it. Meanwhile, the country continues to debate whether the use of mobile devices in the classroom helps or hinders the pedagogical task. According to a report, 54% of 15-year-old students use mobile devices in school. Unlike the debate on banning phones, the new focus is on who will be the first to learn to use artificial intelligence in education.
