At least 12 prisoners were hospitalized following a riot at a police station in the Santa Cruz city of Río Gallegos. The incident occurred around 00:35 on Thursday at the Second Police Station. It began when guards heard blows from the cell sector. Upon arrival, they found a fight between two inmates. Attempts to separate them led to a general escalation of violence. Some inmates set mattresses on fire inside the cell, creating dense smoke. A fire brigade was called, and they extinguished the fire and evacuated all inmates to safe areas. Twelve prisoners were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation and injuries from the brawl. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the riot.
