Argentina to Debate "Cazzu Law" to Protect Children's Rights

In Argentina, the "Cazzu Law" bill will be debated. This initiative was first presented in Mexico and is being promoted by Senator Carlos Linares from Chubut. The bill proposes the creation of a "suspension of parental responsibility". This would allow judges to temporarily suspend the legal rights of a parent if they fail to meet child support obligations or are absent from the child's life for more than three months. The authors of the bill state that parental rights should not be used as a tool for control when duties are not fulfilled. The goal is to prioritize the best interests of the child over negligent or abusive behavior and to prevent the non-compliant parent from blocking decisions concerning the children. The bill is inspired by the personal situation of Argentine artist Cazzu, who publicly shared her legal conflicts with Christian Nodal, the father of her daughter. In Mexico, the bill also includes agile mechanisms for the parent in charge to authorize the child's travel without depending on the consent of the non-compliant parent.
