The mayor of the Mendoza city of Caraguatay has been accused of alleged sexual abuse with carnal access and threats against a 31-year-old employee of the Deliberative Council. According to the Argentine News Agency, it is Mario Darío Peyer, 47, who was accused in the Court of Instruction No. 1 in Puerto Rico, while Governor Hugo Passalacqua requested that the accused be removed from his post. The complaint indicated that in July 2023, the victim returned to her duties after maternity leave, and Peyer gave her gifts. He allegedly locked the door, cornered the woman, beat her, covered her mouth, and subjected her sexually. The accusation also states that the employee did not file a complaint because she suffered threats from her alleged attacker, who considered displacing her from her functions. In addition, the alleged victim stated that the official threatened her 11-year-old daughter from a municipal truck.
