The Supreme Court of Justice upheld the five-year prison sentence for the former mayor of Colonia 25 de Mayo, La Pampa, David Bravo, for his necessary participation in human trafficking for the exploitation of women in brothels. The highest court declared inadmissible the extraordinary appeal for complaint filed by the defense, thus confirming the sentence handed down by the La Pampa Federal Oral Court and ratified by the First Chamber of the Federal Criminal Cassation Court. Bravo was convicted of allowing the operation of the 'Venus' and 'Karibian' brothels in that city, despite a municipal ordinance signed by himself that prohibited the licensing of cabarets, whiskerías, nightclubs, and nightclubs in the district. The case began on December 13, 2011, based on a complaint filed at the La Pampa Delegation of the National Directorate of Migration by a young Dominican woman who claimed to have escaped from a cabaret in Colonia 25 de Mayo. As stated in the sentence to which the Argentine News Agency had access, the woman reported mistreatment and threats from the brothel owners and assured that other women were in the same situation, one of them pregnant. She also recounted that she did not go to the police because 'they knew everything' and that when the mayor went to the cabaret, 'they gave him a thousand pesos and he would sign'. As a result of investigative work, on December 16, 2011, a raid was carried out on the nightclub, where the presence of ten women was confirmed, nine of Dominican nationality and one Argentine.
