A heated crossfire took place in the Senate after the radical Maximiliano Abad proposed to advance the vote on the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. Formosan Senator José Mayans harshly criticized the project's informant, considering "a shame" the brevity of his exposure on an agreement that, as he emphasized, took two decades of negotiation. Mayans also questioned that the methodology of work was modified and warned that one could not "do anything" in the session. During his intervention, he used a provocative comparison: "I can vote here that you lower your pants and you are going to lower your pants if we vote by majority," he launched, generating murmurs and calls to order. The senator defended that first the exposures and the block closures must be carried out before advancing to the vote, as established by the regulations. In this context, the Formosan senator José Mayans exploded against the leadership of the debate and launched a sentence that unleashed stupor in the room: "I am going to propose that you stay naked there on the bench," he told the provisional president of the Chamber, Bartolomé Abdala. The discussion originated from a motion of order linked to the regulations and respect for the list of speakers.
