Buenos Aires, February 5 (NA) -- Relatives of Argentine citizens illegally detained in Venezuela were received this Wednesday in the National Senate, where they expressed their concern over the lack of responses from the Chavist regime. The meeting took place in the office of National Senator Maximiliano Abady and was attended by Senators Patricia Bullrich, Carolina Losada, and Francisco Paoltroni, as well as Deputies Karina Banfi, Maximiliano Ferraro, and Silvana Giudici. Also present were human rights defender Elia Trottay and criminal lawyer Pedro Pusineri, an expert in international assistance to victims of political persecution. During the meeting, the relatives recalled that Nahuel Gallo has been detained since December 2024 and Germán Giuliani since May 2025, without clear information on the reasons for their detention or a transparent judicial process. According to what the Argentine News Agency was able to learn, they expressed their unease over the lack of progress in their cases, despite the recent releases of other political prisoners in Venezuela. Pusineri requested that the diplomatic and consular assistance of the Embassy of Argentina in Italy, the country that represents Argentine interests in Caracas, be activated to handle these cases. The legislators present expressed their solidarity with the families and agreed on the importance of reinforcing political support in Congress and internationally. The relatives seek to increase diplomatic pressure to achieve the immediate and safe release of Gallo and Giuliani, and emphasized that the demand must be framed as a human rights issue affecting Argentine citizens abroad. In this context, the relatives will be received next Friday by Chancellor Pablo Quirno, with the objective of maintaining visibility and the claim until the release of the detainees.
