On Monday afternoon, the prosecutor held a press conference to explain the progress in the investigation of the fires in the La Patriada area. He noted that minutes after the fire started, two pickup trucks loaded with personal items were seen leaving the scene. Prosecutor Carlos Díaz Mayer also commented that witnesses with reserved identity testified and spoke of land conflicts. During the investigation, three raids were carried out, where five cell phones were seized, and for the moment, there are no detainees or accused. "They searched and found nothing," a woman who was raided in the context of the fires in the province of Chubut stated. She said that on the day of the raid, she was sleeping when officers surprised her and informed her that they were going to search her home. "A police officer woke me up with a search warrant. We have no electricity or water," she explained. The woman said that officers took her cell phone, her mother's, and her partner's to subject them to expert analysis and verify if they have any relation to the fires. "They did not tell us what we are being accused of," she added. "It surprises me because I am not going to cause harm to my own animals, my own house, and my own family," Brizuela stated. She also added: "My house burned down, I have two dead horses, and my dogs and cats have disappeared." Brizuela is originally from Pergamino, Buenos Aires province, but has been living in Chubut for some time.
