A dangerous criminal known in criminal circles as "El Brasilero", who has an active arrest warrant for escaping from the Penitenciária Estadual de Santa Rosa in Brazil, and has an extensive criminal record in both countries, was arrested this Tuesday by officers of the Misiones Police. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the operation was carried out by personnel from the Investigations Division of Regional Unit VI in the town of Itacaruaré. The procedure allowed to clarify a qualified robbery and a homicide attempt, which occurred this month. The investigation began with the complaint of Juan Carlos P. (65 years old), who stated that on December 11th he was the victim of a violent assault at his home. According to his testimony, the suspect entered the house armed, threatened him, and stole cash and a motorcycle, then fled. As part of the investigation, officers also managed to link the same subject to a second incident that occurred on December 15th, involving Adriana R. (20), who was injured by a gunshot wound after a dispute, receiving a shot in the shoulder area. Both episodes were unified under the same investigative line due to the repetition of the modus operandi and the high danger of the aggressor. After intense field work, surveillance, and information analysis, personnel from the Investigations Division, along with various dependencies of Regional Unit VI, managed to locate the suspect in the town of Itacaruaré. With a search and arrest warrant issued by the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Oberá (Acting Court No. 5), Alessandro G. de Á., alias "El Brasilero", a native of the neighboring country, was arrested. During the procedure, a homemade firearm and .22 caliber ammunition, which the suspect was carrying, were seized. The detainee was made available to the Argentine Justice, while the corresponding proceedings are advancing due to his status as a fugitive from the Brazilian penitentiary system, which occurred on November 28, 2019, and his possible involvement in other crimes in the region.
