President Javier Milei celebrates the advance of the right in the region and hopes for a meeting of conservative leaders to consolidate ideas and counteract populism on the continent. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, the head of state intends to summon the leaders of Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay, and could include Nayib Bukele (El Salvador) for a right-wing summit. In the Casa Rosada (the Argentinian presidential palace), some point out that the libertarian is positioning himself as the 'natural leader' of the potential alliance, which he hopes to finalize to counter the influence of populism embodied by the governments of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil, Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, and Gustavo Petro in Colombia. During the Mercosur summit, the head of state hinted at his intentions when speaking of 'the new South America' regarding the emergence of conservatism on the continent. 'This block has to decide whether it will move with this tailwind or cling to the mast of the past to fight against the change that our countries need and demand,' he stated. With several of his ideological peers and alignment with Republican Donald Trump in the United States, he has already met privately or visited them in their respective countries. However, an important source revealed that Javier Milei intends to hold a joint meeting during 2026 to function as a bloc and boost the cultural battle in defense of life, private property, and freedom. This is an incipient idea without a concrete date, but the objective is maturing in several of the offices surrounding him, which could finally happen in the coming months.
