Buenos Aires, Dec 23 (NA) – The Supreme Court ruled that it is not within its original jurisdiction to handle the amparo filed by Gloria Ruiz against her dismissal as vice governor of Neuquén, and ordered the case to be processed in the provincial justice system. The highest court, with the votes of Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and Ricardo Lorenzetti, agreed with the opinion of Deputy Prosecutor Laura Monti, who stated that the dispute must be resolved locally, as it involves the interpretation of provincial public law. After her dismissal, Ruiz filed an amparo action to have resolution 1219/2024 annulled and requested her reinstatement, arguing that her right to defense and due process had been violated. A year ago, the Neuquén provincial legislature had dismissed Ruiz for moral incapacity. In a session where accusations of alleged irregularities in the administration of public funds during her tenure as vice governor were evaluated, the former official and her brother Pablo were accused of diverting public funds to accounts at the Banco de la Provincia de Neuquén. According to the case, Ruiz appointed her brother as a coordinator in the Legislature, and transfers of almost 30 million pesos were recorded, along with other maneuvers under criminal investigation. The provincial legislature approved the dismissal with 30 votes out of a total of 35.
