The National Executive Branch has established its strategy and deadlines to push forward the labor reform during the extraordinary sessions, scheduled from December 10 to 30. The strategy involves presenting the initiative in the Senate, where Patricia Bullrich would preside over the Labor Commission and work on the text simultaneously while the Chamber of Deputies deals with the 2026 Budget Law. The extraordinary sessions, governed by the exclusive power of the Executive to propose topics, end on December 30; then, on March 1, the ordinary sessions will begin, a date to which Peronism points to work on its own reform project. Although Congress presents with a more favorable composition, La Libertad Avanza (LLA) needs to close agreements with allied parties and governors to reach the necessary majority. The project and caution in the offices According to the Argentine News Agency, the project, which the Government seeks to call "Labor Modernization," circulated in legislative offices in two versions: one with the signature of the Ministry of Economy and a later one from the Secretariat of Labor, under the orbit of the Ministry of Human Capital. The radical deputy Lisandro Nierent anticipated the support of his bloc, but stressed that the project requires "a more detailed study of each of the issues." The divide: Peronist rejection and counter-proposal The Labor Modernization Law has quickly marked the divide with Peronism. Both versions seek to concentrate the spirit of one of the most ambitious reforms from the Casa Rosada. Caution is the first reaction among legislators. Yasky specifically refers to the elimination of fines for not registering employees, the withholding of union contributions, and the legislation on work through digital platforms. The counter-proposal of Fuerza Patria is based on the reduction of the working day and new legislation for work mediated by new technologies, including the prevention of accidents, the right to "digital disconnection," and coverage for monotributistas. The parliamentary strategy The Government seeks to achieve, at least, a preliminary approval in the first stage of the extraordinary sessions. the Unión por la Patria (UxP) bloc anticipated a frontal rejection and a counter-proposal. The CTA reference, Hugo Yasky, stated that the official project is "basically the transcription with some semantic modifications of DNU 70/23 already declared unconstitutional by justice".
