Elderly Woman Charged with Drug Dealing in Argentina

In the city of Orán, Salta province, four people, including a 77-year-old woman, have been charged with drug dealing. According to information published on the official website of the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, which was accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the suspect had been selling narcotics along with three young men, aged 17 to 19, from a home. An anonymous complaint was filed on March 25, prompting the Orán Division of Dangerous Drugs to launch an investigation to find those responsible. The 3rd Penal Prosecutor's Office determined that the individuals obtained the substances, handled their packaging, and then sold them to young people using a technique known as “passing the parcel.” At the same time, the individuals had prior records for violating the Narcotics Act. On November 20, the police conducted a raid and detained 12 people, including a septuagenarian and the three men. The elderly woman, nicknamed “the granny,” had packages of marijuana and cocaine hidden on her person, while the residence was found to contain cash, cell phones, and tools for packaging drugs.
