Buenos Aires, November 26 (NA) -- National Gendarmerie personnel seized over 400 kilos of cocaine that were being transported by drug traffickers in a mountainous area. Upon seeing the uniformed officers, the criminals fled after exchanging gunfire with them. Sources from the force revealed to the Argentine News Agency that despite several suspects escaping, the personnel managed to detain one of them. In the midst of the dense forest with low visibility, the gendarmes observed a group of people carrying the drug on their shoulders. Upon noticing the presence of the officers, they abandoned the load and fired firearms at the personnel, who managed to repel the attack. Within the framework of the 'Plan Güemes' Operation, personnel from the 'Orán' 20th Squadron carried out a patrol in a mountainous area in the Salta locality of Aguas Blancas, where they observed several people moving bales. Faced with this situation, the gendarmes gave the order to halt, which caused the group to discard the load they were transporting and fire at the force's personnel. Immediately, the officials repelled the aggression with anti-riot ammunition, managing to apprehend one man, while the other people managed to flee, favored by the density of the forest and the low visibility. After securing the area, the discarded load was inspected, which consisted of 19 bales. Upon opening them, a total of 410 rectangular packets were found, which, when subjected to the field Narcotest test, tested positive for cocaine, with a total weight of 431,325 kilos.
