Argentine Interior Minister to Meet Governors for Budget Approval

Argentina's Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, will meet on Friday, November 28, with the governor of the province of Jujuy, Carlos Sadir. This meeting is part of a series of scheduled encounters with provincial leaders. According to sources from the Executive branch, reported to the Argentine News Agency, Santilli's goal in holding these meetings is to secure the necessary support to 'approve' the 2026 budget, in line with the management plan of President Javier Milei's government, which prioritizes fiscal balance and the passing of bills for labor, criminal, and tax reforms. These activities on the minister's agenda are intertwined with a tour of the country's interior, where he visited several provinces to discuss fiscal issues, public works, and the progress of the laws promoted by the National Executive. According to Santilli's statements, these meetings were a direct request from Milei, who continues to focus on securing the necessary majorities in the National Congress to obtain approval for the structural reforms proposed by the ruling party. The first meetings Santilli held involved governors Martín Llaryora (Córdoba), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Ignacio Torres (Chubut), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), Leandro Zdero (Chaco), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro), Hugo Passalacqua (Misiones), and Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero). Through these actions, Santilli stated that President Milei aims to improve ties with the country's interior and maintain an open dialogue to agree on and work together.
