Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno will travel to Washington this Wednesday to continue negotiations with the United States on the free trade agreement, while President Javier Milei has declined to participate in the G20 summit at the end of this month, similar to his American counterpart Donald Trump. Quirno will travel to the United States tomorrow accompanied by the Secretary of Production Coordination of the Ministry of Economy, Pablo Lavigne. The ambassador of Argentina to the United States, Alec Oxenford, revealed on Tuesday that the trade agreement between the two nations is closed and only needs to be 'tied with a bow', after the meeting that Milei and Trump held last month in Washington. On the other hand, Quirno will be in charge of representing Milei at the G20 summit to be held in Johannesburg on November 22 and 23, as confirmed by the Argentine News Agency from official sources. The Argentine president declined to attend the summit, making a decision similar to the one taken by Trump. Instead of Milei, Foreign Minister Quirno will be accompanied by Federico Pinedo, who is in charge of the Temporary Special Executive Unit G20.
