The State Workers' Association (ATE) has called a federal plenary of delegates for this Tuesday at 2:00 PM to discuss the possibility of organizing a new strike in rejection of the labor reform being pushed by the government. "If we stay still and do not reject this regressive labor reform in the streets, they will crush us," said Rodolfo Aguiar, the union's general secretary. He added, "The path we have left is to exercise our constitutional rights to demonstration and protest." Aguiar stated that "the government is lying" and "must clearly explain why it wants a labor reform, because if it tells us it is to generate employment and grow the economy, that is false." "Waiting until December 10th is suicidal. It will not happen by taking away rights," he affirmed, according to a press release. "With the new composition in Congress and the atrocious pragmatism of most governors, it will be difficult to achieve consensus in Parliament to defend the position of the unions and workers." The plenary will be held at the Eva Perón Amphitheater of the union's national headquarters, at Avenida Belgrano 2527, and the strike call also includes the demand for the reopening of salary negotiations.
