According to Argentina's federal prosecutor's office, no kidnappings for ransom were recorded in October 2025. The annual average is the lowest in the last decade, indicating a positive trend in combating this crime.

The Specialized Federal Unit for Organized Crime (UFECO), led by Federal Prosecutor Santiago Marquevich, revealed in its latest statistical report that no kidnappings for ransom occurred in the country in October. With the 13 cases recorded so far in 2025, the monthly average for this crime is currently the lowest in the last decade. The report highlights that with the latest UFECO data, the average is 1.3 cases per month, the lowest record in the last 10 years. The months with the most kidnappings in 2025 were May and August, with three cases each, followed by September. As for January, February, March, April, and July, only one case was recorded, and in June and October, there were no reports. According to the surveys conducted by this office, 294 cases were recorded in 2015 (an average of 24.5 per month); in 2016, 227 (average of 18.92); in 2017, 185 (average of 15.42); in 2018, 111 (average of 9.25); in 2019, 44 (average of 3.67); in 2020, 48 (average of 4); in 2021, 30 (average of 2.5); in 2022, 27 (average of 2.25); in 2023, 16 (average of 1.33, which was the lowest until now); and in 2024, 22 cases (average of 1.83). “The figures show a decreasing trend in the criminal phenomenon of kidnappings for ransom,” states the Fiscales portal.
