Major Corruption Trial Begins in Argentina

In Argentina, a trial has begun against 87 accused individuals from the highest levels of politics and business in a corruption case. The trial, which started on Thursday, involves 19 former officials, two of their drivers, and 65 businessmen accused of being part of a criminal organization dedicated to bribe collection between 2003 and 2015. Key figures include former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, former ministers Julio De Vido and Roberto Baratta, and business leaders. The case became widely known through the 'notebooks of bribes' kept by driver Oscar Centeno. The hearings will be held via Zoom as there is no courtroom in Argentina large enough for all participants. The proceedings will be broadcast on the Supreme Court's YouTube channel.
