The head of the Peronist bloc of deputies in Buenos Aires Province, Facundo Tignanelli, stated on Thursday that there is a willingness from the opposition to approve the 2026 budget that Governor Axel Kicillof sent to the Legislature. He also noted that “anyone can have the ambition” to lead the Buenos Aires PJ (Peronist Movement), currently led by Máximo Kirchner. In an interview with Noticias Argentinas, the Camporista leader emphasized that the Province had to structure its budget forecasts around the inflation figures “half-drawn” by the Casa Rosada (the President's office). “Budgetary guidelines are established aligned with the inflation target set by the Government. This is more of a technical issue because we know that the inflation target set by the Nation is half-drawn,” Tignanelli considered. Regarding the legislative process, he said that the ruling party is confident in reaching the necessary agreements: “As we did last year, we are going to work on this this year so that it passes, and we have the expectation that it can be achieved.” And he added that “what we have gathered from the opposition is a willingness to start refining criteria so that this passes.” Regarding internal tensions in Peronism after the October 26 elections, Tignanelli sought to downplay them by emphasizing that “it seems natural to him that Axel's political force supports him; if not, he would be in a problem,” the deputy stated about the support the governor received yesterday from the mayors of the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro. The Buenos Aires deputy considered it necessary to “turn the page” on the dispute within Peronism over the electoral strategy, while maintaining that there is no scenario of an internal rupture. “After the October election results—with the split—we must continue to build in unity, and that is what Cristina (Kirchner) proposes to us as president of the national PJ: that we continue to seek unity,” he pointed out. Looking ahead to the party's renewal in Buenos Aires Province and a potential candidacy from the mayor of Moreno, Mariel Fernández, to succeed Máximo Kirchner, he stressed that the field is open for an internal competition. “Any Peronist comrade can have the ambition to lead the Buenos Aires PJ and it is right that it be so. If the comrade wants to hold an internal primary, that is also fine,” the leader concluded, specifying that the call for party elections should be made “in a not-too-long period” given the expiration of mandates in the municipal PJs in mid-March.
