La Libertad Avanza will reach ninety of its own legislators in the Chamber of Deputies when the parliamentary renewal takes place in December, following the incorporation of PRO legislator Belen Avico into the libertarian bloc. One of the central facts is that this growth comes at the expense of the drain from its main ally, PRO, which last week already lost five legislators, and today Avico joined, and it could lose a third if Silvia Lospennato resigns from her seat. The co-optation of PRO deputies to add more to La Libertad Avanza is straining relations with the head of that bloc, Cristian Ritondo, one of the main architects of the electoral alliance in the province of Buenos Aires. Today, the transfer of the five PRO deputies who answer to Patricia Bullrich to the La Libertad Avanza bloc was formalized, which will now have 42 deputies until December 9. These are Damián Arabia, Silvana Guidici and Patricia Vázquez with a mandate until 2027, and the legislators who were re-elected on the LLA list, Sabrina Ajmechet, and Laura Rodríguez Machado. Today, this list was joined by the announcement that Avico has left PRO and joined La Libertad Avanza in Córdoba and the LLA deputy bloc, as announced today by Minister and future Senator Patricia Bullrich and the head of the LLA bloc, Gabriel Bornoroni. "Avico, who has been working with us for a long time, joins the deputy bloc of LLA. A Cordovan businesswoman and firm defender of freedom and change," highlighted Bullrich on her social networks. Avico had entered the chamber in 2023 for PRO, and has a mandate until December 2027. "We are strengthening the team with people who are convinced that Argentina must be transformed forever," Bullrich emphasized. The La Libertad Avanza bloc will have 88 of its own deputies from December since, of the 64 who were elected, 51 belong to LLA, and it hopes to add two or three more deputies that could be confirmed in the coming weeks, according to Noticias Argentinas. One of the issues still pending is what PRO deputy Silvia Lospennato will do, who has a mandate until 2027, but could resign since she was elected a Buenos Aires city legislator, in which case she will be replaced by the Bullrichist Lorena Petrovich. The ruling party also hopes to advance negotiations with the Santa Fe deputy Verónica Razzini, another former PRO legislator who formed Future and Freedom. Parliamentary sources indicated that Razzini has not yet made any decision and stated that the legislator will advance in conversations because "they are basically evaluating what is most convenient for the political space from now until 2027". With Avico's jump to La Libertad Avanza, PRO will be left with 16 deputies, but that number could be reduced to fifteen and will depend on the stance taken by the Santa Fe deputy Alejandro Bongiovanni, as reported by Noticias Argentinas. With ninety of its own deputies and the allies of PRO, the League of the Interior and the UCR hope to reach 115 legislators, which will facilitate the passing of key laws for the National Government, such as the National Budget.
La Libertad Avanza Strengthens Its Position in the Argentine Congress
The La Libertad Avanza coalition significantly increases its representation in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, attracting deputies from the PRO party. This growth will allow it to form a majority to pass key laws, such as the national budget.
