Argentine President Javier Milei is embarking on another trip to the United States. During this visit, he plans to participate in a major business event to bolster investor confidence and attract capital to the country. Milei will speak at the American Business Forum in Miami, taking place from November 5-6 at the Kaseya Center. Among the forum's attendees, alongside President Milei, are other prominent global figures, including Argentina's national football team captain Lionel Messi, Venezuelan opposition leader MarĂa Corina Machado, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, actor Will Smith, and Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali. Although an informal meeting between Milei and Donald Trump was previously planned, their schedules did not align, and a meeting will not take place. Nevertheless, Milei will be interviewed by Bret Baier, a Fox News host and friend of Trump. Following his Miami appearance, the Argentine president will travel to New York to visit the grave of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson to thank him for his electoral victory. On Friday, a meeting with investors, organized by the Council of the Americas, is scheduled. The final stop before returning to Buenos Aires will be La Paz, Bolivia, where Milei will attend the inauguration of the new president, Rodrigo Paz Pereira. This trip comes amid speculation about the potential dollarization of Argentina, which is being discussed within the Trump administration. The British newspaper Financial Times reported that some Trump administration officials are actively discussing ways to encourage other countries to adopt the dollar and are viewing Argentina as a prime candidate. This initiative aims to counteract China's influence and the erosion of the U.S. dollar's global dominance. Steve Hanke, a Johns Hopkins University professor and dollarization expert, met with U.S. government officials, including the Treasury and the White House, to discuss this policy. Despite warnings from the International Monetary Fund that dollarization could lead to low growth, some economists believe it is necessary to break the inflationary cycle. Meanwhile, the new U.S. Ambassador to Argentina, Peter Lamelas, presented his credentials, noting that it was a "deeply significant moment."
