Argentina: Government Calls Governors, Excluding Kicillof

The national government has called 20 'dialogist' governors to a meeting today at 5 PM, while excluding four other provincial leaders, including Axel Kicillof of Buenos Aires. Cabinet Chief Guillermo Francos explained the reasons: 'The President said it because he wants to talk to everyone, except those with ideas totally different from ours, and Kicillof has questioned everything of the government.' I say that as Cabinet Chief,' reflected Francos.

Besides Kicillof, three other Peronists linked to Cristina Kirchner will not attend: Gustavo Melella of Tierra del Fuego; Gildo Insfrán of Formosa; and Ricardo Quintela of La Rioja. The surprise attendee is the governor of La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto.

'It is not worth convening someone who is not willing to seriously analyze the moment Argentina is living. We are not going to reach a consensus. Perhaps another meeting with him could take place at another time on a specific provincial issue,' Francos stated.
