CGT to convene 'inner circle' to analyze labor reform

This Thursday at 15:30, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) will convene its 'inner circle' to analyze the organization's stance on the labor reform being pushed by the government and the renewal of authorities, which the central union will carry out on November 5. According to what the Argentine News Agency was able to learn, the meeting will take place at the headquarters of the UOCRA union, led by Gerardo Martínez, secretary of International Relations of the central union and a member of the May Council representing the labor movement. The workers' organization has two main items on its agenda: the strategy to be adopted regarding the government's intention to push a new labor reform after its victory in the legislative elections, and the renewal of authorities for a new triumvirate. The co-general secretary of the CGT, Héctor Daer, had advanced yesterday that the labor center would reject the labor reform if it is to 'roll back' acquired rights. 'If the labor reform is progressive, that's one thing. We have a concept of the progression of rights, but if it is to roll back, there will be no negotiation of any kind,' Daer stated in radio statements. Regarding the renewal of authorities, on November 5 the CGT congress will be held at the Obras Sanitarias stadium, in an event for which figures such as Jorge Sola, head of the Insurance union and current spokesperson for the CGT; Cristian Jerónimo, head of the Glass union, and Maia Volcovinsky, deputy secretary of the Judiciary union, are positioning themselves.
