The deputy general secretary of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), Héctor Daer, announced on Tuesday that the labor centers will reject the labor reform proposed by President Javier Milei's government if it means to "roll back" acquired rights.
"We have a concept of the progressive advancement of rights, but if it is to roll them back, there will be no negotiations of any kind," Daer stated in a radio interview.
The health representative said that the CGT has not yet received an official draft of the changes the government plans to make to the labor law, but warned that it will not accept a modification that implies a loss of labor rights.
Daer also commented on the poor electoral results of Peronism in last Sunday's elections and criticized former President Cristina Kirchner for dancing on the balcony of her apartment amid the defeat.
"There is a difference between greeting and dancing," he said.
Earlier, Daer had stated that the labor centers would reject the labor reform proposed by the government of Javier Milei if it is to "roll back" acquired rights.
"If the labor reform is progressive, that is one thing. If it is to roll back rights, there will be no negotiations," he emphasized.
"It did not sit well with anyone: we were losing the election," the union leader pointed out and tried to justify the former head of state's actions by referring to the "delicate moment" the political space is going through.
"It may be due to the fact that we are all going through very delicate personal and political times," Daer suggested.
