Arrests Made in Laferrere Retirement Murder Case

Two individuals were arrested today, accused of the murder of a retiree in the Buenos Aires locality of Laferrere, whom they had approached with the intent to rob last week. After several days of intense search, officers from the provincial police detained Héctor Daniel Potenzone and Angel Ezequiel Martínez, accused of 'Attempted robbery in real competition and aggravated homicide.'

The two apprehended, with extensive criminal records, were identified as responsible for the murder of Benito Cabrera, 65 years old, which occurred on March 30. At that time, Cabrera was traveling in a Chevrolet Celta when he was approached by the two motorcycle robbers at the intersection of Almeida and Bach, in that locality, located in the La Matanza party.

Cabrera, who was with his daughter and two grandchildren, shielded the two minors with his body when the criminals began to fire, was shot, and died shortly afterward in a nearby hospital. Cabrera's murderers managed to flee at that moment, although they were eventually arrested and placed at the disposal of the provincial justice system.
