The affiliation of Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich, with La Libertad Avanza accelerated the process of decomposition and fragmentation of the PRO block in the Chamber of Deputies. About a dozen legislators associated with the former presidential candidate of Juntos por el Cambio are close to announcing their departure from the block led by Cristian Ritondo, which has Mauricio Macri as its main national reference. According to what Agencia Noticias Argentinas learned, one of the deputies leading the exodus has not yet decided whether they will form a new autonomous block or follow Bullrich's footsteps to join La Libertad Avanza.
In the list of the probable diaspora, Damián Arabia, a purist bullrichista, is mentioned, as well as Silvana Giudici, Gerardo Milman, Fernando Iglesias, Sabrina Ajmechet, Patricia Vázquez, Laura Rodríguez Machado, Alejandro Bongiovanni, José Nuñez, and Sergio Capozzi. Also in discussions to join the new block or sub-block “bullrichista” are the two deputies from the province of Santa Fe who recently broke with the PRO: Gabriel Chumpitaz and Verónica Razzini. “We are more than 10 and less than 15. Infinite pride,” said Bullrich.
The deputy consulted by Noticias Argentinas expressed: “It’s like the dollar band system that the Government set up.” Currently, the PRO, which came close to having 40 members, has 35 deputies. If the departure of a dozen legislators materializes, it would only have 25. However, the final number of “converts” is not defined, and there is intense pressure within the yellow party to retain some of those considering leaving.
In the La Libertad Avanza block, chaired by Gabriel Bornoroni, they closely follow the unfolding events as the final decision taken will directly impact the libertarian force in the Chamber of Deputies. The deputies who desert from the PRO could merge into La Libertad Avanza or form a caucus that functions as a subsidiary of the ruling party.
Bullrich's transfer to La Libertad Avanza is a sincere reflection of the political positioning of the Security Minister, who upon assuming in the libertarian administration quickly shed her previous yellow attire and immersed herself in Javier Milei's political project. The Minister's last activity was her attendance at the presentation of the book “Don’t Break My Balls” conducted by Arabia, at the Book Fair last Monday. “I saw him grow, commit, take every step with passion and courage.”
