The Justicialist Party (PJ) has called for an extraordinary meeting of the Federal National Council to address its stance on Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) 179/2025 signed by President Javier Milei regarding the agreement with the IMF. The meeting will take place this Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the party's headquarters located at Matheu 130.
In this meeting, participation is expected from leaders of Peronism from different regions of the country, who will discuss the strategy to be followed in Congress. The main objective will be to define whether the party will push for a formal challenge against the aforementioned DNU, which would allow for borrowing without the need to go through Parliament.
The statement issued by the PJ has highlighted the lack of transparency in the process, stating that 'The President of the Nation seeks to unilaterally advance towards an agreement with the IMF that nobody knows about.' The position adopted by the Justicialist Party will be crucial in the legislative debate, as the ruling party needs to obtain a majority in the Chamber of Deputies to ratify the decree and avoid its rejection in the session scheduled for Wednesday, March 19.
In this context, the call for this meeting arises due to the imminent session in the Chamber of Deputies, where the presidential decree is expected to be discussed, which, according to allegations from Peronism, seeks to evade compliance with Law 27.612 and constitutional provisions regarding indebtedness.
