Man Sentenced to Four Years for Child Exploitation

In the province of Mendoza, a man named Javier Alfredo José Peñaloza was sentenced to four years of effective prison for the crime of distribution of child sexual abuse material. The sentence was handed down after an abbreviated trial.

The case began in December 2024 when the Prosecutor's Office No. 14, dependent on the Prosecutor's Unit for Crimes Against Sexual Integrity, started investigations due to suspicion that Peñaloza was distributing material of abuse and sexual exploitation of minors under 13 years old through the Viber application. The operation was part of "Operation Viper," initiated in Spain and referred by Interpol.

After carrying out a search at the condemned person's home, located in Guaymallén, devices were found that confirmed possession of a large amount of sexual abuse material of girls, boys, and adolescents, as well as sexual exploitation of minors, which he distributed through instant messaging applications.

Following the examinations, the Public Prosecutor's Office requested a preventive detention hearing, and finally, in an abbreviated trial, a sentence of four years of effective prison was imposed on Javier Alfredo José Peñaloza.
