Kicillof Responds to Media Accusations on Protests

The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, responded this Sunday to media publications that linked his responsibility with the march last Wednesday in Congress, marked by the repression of security forces. Kicillof described the articles from the Clarín newspaper as "examples of fraud and corruption in the exercise of journalism," referring to the articles titled "Leaders of Peronism behind the funding for the thugs who clashed with police in Congress" and "On alert for a new march in front of Congress, the government tightens the operation and expects more people on the street."

The newspaper mentioned "undisputed sources" and claimed that an official from the Buenos Aires government and a mayor from the Justicialist Party (PJ) had offered $50,000 "per head" to a thug from a club in order to generate incidents and provoke police repression. According to Clarín, the thug had rejected the offer. Through his account, Kicillof accused the media of being part of a "maneuver by Milei's government" aimed at diverting attention from the "brutal repression" that, according to him, was ordered by the Executive itself.

"It's a disgrace, and it is something extremely serious," stated the governor of Buenos Aires. Finally, Kicillof emphasized that "authoritarian governments have always needed a complicit press to spread lies and hide the reality."
