Institutional Scandal in the Chamber of Deputies

In the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, an institutional scandal erupted among lawmakers from La Libertad Avanza and their allies, according to national deputy Eduardo Toniolli from Unión por la Patria. Toniolli pointed out that the Government lost control of the Chamber and tried to regain it through violence by abruptly attempting to end the session, comparing the situation to actions taken by former President Menem, which he deemed unacceptable.

In statements to the RPM program on Radio Splendid, Toniolli questioned Martín Menem's ability to preside over the Chamber, recalling that his party did not support him in that designation. The legislator emphasized that during the year Menem has held that position, numerous problematic situations have occurred.

During the session, while deputy Victoria Tolosa Paz was speaking, members of La Libertad Avanza attempted to forcibly remove their own blockmates, causing disputes within the chamber. Amid the disturbances, there were physical confrontations between lawmakers from La Libertad Avanza, including punches and even water being thrown among members of the same block.

The tension became evident when an attempt was made to declare the session over, as Toniolli suggested: "We saw what the maneuver was and we stayed in our seats, but he still ended the session and he cannot do that, it was an institutional scandal."
