Santilli secures Corrientes governor's support for labor reform

Interior Minister Diego Santilli gains support for labor reform from Corrientes governor. The focus is on modernizing labor laws to boost jobs and investment. The national government will provide financial aid to flood-affected areas.

On Friday, Interior Minister Diego Santilli secured the support of Corrientes Governor Juan Pablo Valdés for the labor reform that the Executive branch aims to pass during the extraordinary sessions in February. 'No governor can be against a law that seeks to generate private employment, increase productivity, and attract investments for the provinces and Argentina,' Santilli stated. During the meeting, held at the Government House, both highlighted joint actions coordinated between the national and provincial governments and agreed on 'the need for Congress to approve the labor reform.' In turn, Valdés advocated for 'modernizing the labor system. It is a new regulation that aims to create more jobs from now on,' he emphasized. Additionally, Santilli informed Valdés that the national government will send National Treasury Contributions (ATN) of 3 billion pesos to Corrientes as part of the requested assistance to alleviate the crisis the province is facing due to floods in the municipalities of San Luis del Palmar, San Roque, and Santa Lucía, as reported by the Government in a press release. Along with Valdés, Santilli has garnered the support of nine governors: Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos); Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza); Leandro Zdero (Chaco); Gustavo Sáenz (Salta); Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro) and Ignacio Torres (Chubut), in addition to the Corrientes governor. 'It is highly positive that labor modernization is being discussed without jeopardizing workers' rights.' 'There is a bet by the national government for the labor market to grow.'
