Sergio Morales Resigns Amid Investigation

One of those investigated by Justice, Sergio Morales, resigned this Friday from his position in the National Securities Commission. A senior source informed El Cronista that Morales submitted his irrevocable resignation due to the events of public knowledge.

Sergio Morales was an advisor to the Board of the CNV on matters related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies. He joined the CNV in the last quarter of 2024 after having briefly worked at the General Secretary of the Presidency, directed by Karina Milei. Morales entered Casa Rosada on June 11 alongside Novelli.

In the last few hours, lawyers Ramiro Salaber and Karin Kozak have taken on the defense of Morales in the case, but so far, Morales has not made any statements. According to government sources, Morales was not part of the permanent staff of the CNV, but had a service location contract. He is a partner of Terrones Godoy in City Entertainment, an LLC created in 2022.

Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano is investigating Morales and other defendants for abuse of authority, fraud, influence peddling, and bribery related to the LIBRA case. The repercussions of this case continue to impact the Government, and Morales has become embroiled in a scandal due to his ties with Novelli and Terrones Godoy, who allegedly introduced relevant individuals to President Javier Milei. Morales' resignation could be linked to a new defense strategy in court.
