Debate on Security in the Province of Buenos Aires

The Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos, commented on the dispute between the national government and the provincial administration of Axel Kicillof, in response to Javier Milei's criticisms regarding security in the province of Buenos Aires. Francos emphasized the importance of recognizing the work done in addition to the promises made. He also defended the national government's decision related to the sharing of tax revenues, explaining that a Supreme Court ruling was fulfilled by restoring funds to the City of Buenos Aires.

Francos dismissed the possibility of an intervention in the province but did not deny that this option could be considered with the necessary parliamentary support. Tensions between both governments intensified when Governor Kicillof accused the Casa Rosada of depriving the province of 10,000 patrol cars, referencing the redistribution of shared tax funds.

The Chief of Cabinet insisted that insecurity in Buenos Aires is a structural problem that has persisted throughout Kicillof's five years in office. Although the national government does not have the parliamentary majority required for an intervention, Francos did not completely rule out the possibility, which provoked the governor's reaction, who accused him of politically exploiting the situation and playing the victim.
