New measure in Argentina eliminates employer contributions

The Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) issued a statement in response to decree 149/2025 published in the Official Gazette that eliminates the obligation of employer contributions to business chambers. According to the entity, these resources not only allow for extensive training activities but are also essential for giving a voice to companies in Argentina.

President Javier Milei, Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos, and Minister of Human Capital Sandra Pettovello signed the decree. This establishes that companies will no longer have to make economic contributions to employer chambers unless it is voluntarily. Since its foundation, CAME has defended the rights and interests of SMEs in an ethical and representative manner.

National Deputy Marcela Pagano, promoter of a similar initiative in Congress, celebrated the decision. CAME emphasized its role as a mediator of the demands of SMEs facing regulations that affect their operations. The elimination of the obligation for contributions will not imply an increase in employee salaries, as they are financed exclusively by the companies.

Pagano criticized the business chambers for operating without legitimate representation and denounced that some were made up of individuals unrelated to the industry they claimed to represent. The deputy plans to present more measures to eliminate hidden costs that increase prices in Argentina. The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, supported the measure and described it as a blow to "private taxes."

The commercial sector will be affected, as mandatory contributions represent around $6000 million a month. CAME reaffirmed its commitment to the training and professionalization of SMEs, highlighting the importance of the resources from the Argentine Institute of Professional and Technological Training for Commerce (INACAP). The measure will come into effect 90 days from its publication in the Official Gazette.
