Actress Andrea del Boca Faces Trial for Fraud

Andrea del Boca will be tried alongside Julio De Vido for alleged fraudulent management in the financing of the soap opera "Mamá Corazón". The trial prosecutor will be Fabiana León. Former authorities from the National University of San Martín and INCA will also be present at the oral debate, such as Liliana Mazure, who was the president of the agency from 2008 to 2013. Del Boca is accused of being a "necessary participant" in "fraudulent management to the detriment of public administration" due to the agreement that her production company signed with the University of San Martín for the financing of the soap opera for more than 25 million pesos in 2015. The funds came from the Ministry of Federal Planning under De Vido's management, and according to the investigation, regulations related to public procurements may have been violated. The accusation states that "arbitrary or leonine clauses were included that determined the reserve of intellectual property rights inherent to the author, granting the production company international marketing exclusivity for a period of 60 months, which could be extended for another identical period". The trial will be held before the Federal Oral Court 7, and the testimony of approximately one hundred witnesses is expected, including Fernando Dente, Fabián Mazzei, and Marcelo Mazzarello. The hearings will be conducted remotely via Zoom every Thursday. The court will be composed of judges Enrique Méndez Signori, Fernando Canero, and Germán Castelli, who decided that the entire oral debate will take place via videoconference and that the opening and closing stages will be publicly broadcast. The accusations claim that the soap opera was financed with public funds and that international sales were left in the hands of the production company.
