The national General Secretary of the State Workers Association (ATE), Rodolfo Aguiar, criticized President Javier Milei following his speech at the opening of ordinary sessions. Aguiar compared statistics with the previous year and pointed out that the only improvements occurred in activities that represent only 4% of employment positions, such as financial intermediation, energy, and mining.
Aguiar accused Milei of lying about the supposed growth in consumption, arguing that the president spends more time outside the country than addressing the needs of the population in Argentina. He emphasized that while Milei speaks of economic growth of 5% in 2024, he actually lives in his own fiction where he distorts reality.
According to Aguiar, Milei seeks to destroy rather than promote the common good and ensure human development. He criticized mayors and governors for continuing to support a president who, in his words, is inhumane and has shown indifference to the situation of those who need it most.
The union leader asserted that the cuts and adjustments did not affect the 'elite,' but rather impacted retirees, public works, public sector salaries, and the elimination of subsidies and social assistance to various sectors of society.
In a statement from the union, Aguiar expressed his rejection of President Milei's speech at the opening of ordinary sessions, accusing him of being boring and generating secondhand embarrassment. He concluded by warning that Milei should stop focusing on a small group of speculative businessmen and start attending to the true interests of the Argentine population.
