Milei Defends Judicial Appointments Amid Opposition

President Javier Milei criticized the opposition for considering unconstitutional the decisions they do not like, especially regarding the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court. In an interview with LN+, Milei pointed out that the appointments are valid for the current legislative period and that if the opposition has objections, the Senate must review the candidacies, in this case, Ariel Lijo and Manuel García Mansilla.

He highlighted Ariel Lijo's career as a federal judge and stressed that, once his license is approved, he will take an oath to join the Supreme Court. Referring to Mauricio Macri's rejection of the appointment of judges by decree, Milei rhetorically asked if anyone likes all the decisions made by another person, suggesting that it is more a matter of preferences.

Milei defended the appointments he has made in commission to the Supreme Court and attacked those who criticize these decisions in derogatory terms, referring to them as "republican whiners." He emphasized Lijo's experience in cases related to drug trafficking and cyber crimes, stating that although his decisions may have affected many economically, that should not invalidate his suitability to hold a position in the country's highest judicial body.
