Milei Addresses Congress: Key Changes Ahead

President Javier Milei stated during the inauguration of the 143rd regular session of the National Congress that his government has fulfilled 97% of the campaign promises in just one year. In his statements, he emphasized the importance of reducing the size of the state to reduce poverty in Argentina and thanked his team for allowing him to lead 'the best government in Argentine history.'

Milei projected that this year will be crucial for the reconstruction of Argentina and advocated for immigration reform as a necessary step for the country to be considered a serious nation. If he does not receive support from Congress, he expressed his willingness to take his battles to the streets and social media.

The president pointed out the importance of achieving fiscal balance as a fundamental objective to ensure sustained growth of the Argentine economy. In this sense, he highlighted that the policies of his government, including the 'chainsaw,' will be applied consistently in the coming years.

Additionally, Milei highlighted the historic opportunity to establish a trade agreement with the United States and reaffirmed his commitment to making Argentina great again. In his speech, he also had harsh criticisms toward the opposition and underscored the need to lower the age of criminal responsibility and toughen penalties in the Penal Code, considering that the fiscal deficit has been the main challenge throughout the country's history.

President Milei announced that he will send new key projects to the Legislative Power and reaffirmed his conviction to continue with the policies implemented in his first year of management.
