
The president of the Civic Coalition, Maximiliano Ferraro, expressed his concern about the restrictions imposed on the press and the appointment of Supreme Court judges by decree, describing these actions as a blow to institutional integrity and the separation of powers in Argentina. Ferraro pointed out that the Senate does not have the necessary majorities to approve the appointments and criticized the lack of transparency in the process. In relation to the appointment of Ariel Lijo and Manuel GarcĂa Mansilla as Supreme Court judges, Ferraro emphasized that this measure represents a threat to the republican and constitutional system of the country. He questioned the alleged authoritarian attitude of the Government in making such decisions and stated that these actions weaken democracy. The opposition leader urged senators to clearly oppose these appointments and not to succumb to governmental pressures. He also expressed the intention of the Civic Coalition to maintain its institutional presence in the Legislative Assembly to continue defending democratic principles and the rule of law in Argentina.
