Teachers' Unions Suspend Strike After Government Talks

The teachers' unions announced the suspension of the strike planned for March 5, emphasizing the importance of collective bargaining as a guarantee of social peace. The unions, including AMET, CEA, Sadop, and UDA, expressed their state of alert while awaiting an appropriate call.

This sector had already carried out a strike on February 24 and planned to repeat the action in early March. The decision to suspend the strike came after an "approach" with the government to address the salary discussion, according to the unions.

In a joint statement, the teachers' unions within the CGT informed about the approach between the union entities and the government, highlighting the importance of dialogue to resolve conflicts. In addition to the salary issue, other points will be addressed in the negotiations, such as strengthening teaching, school infrastructure in the provinces, participation of unions in educational assemblies, and teacher transfers between different jurisdictions.

"These negotiations compel the parties to negotiate in good faith," the unions stressed in their statement, highlighting the importance of establishing constructive dialogue to reach beneficial agreements for the educational sector.
