The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, mentioned that the Senate has the opportunity to address the nominations of the candidates appointed to the Supreme Court by President Javier Milei, Ariel Lijo and Manuel García-Mansilla, throughout the year. Francos highlighted that Milei's speech before the Legislative Assembly will be characterized by being energetic and convinced, as is usually the case.
Francos downplayed the importance of the appointments by decree, pointing out that the Senate can still approve the nominations in question. He emphasized that the presidential speech will highlight the achievements of the previous year and the plans for the new year. He referred to the nominations of the judges that have been in the Senate since May, having followed all the required procedures, but still not achieving agreements.
In statements to the Argentine News Agency, Francos explained that the nominations of Lijo and García-Mansilla were presented again as a topic for extraordinary sessions, but were not addressed, which led the Executive Power to appoint the candidates by decree until the end of November.
