The President of the Nation, Javier Milei, signed a decree this Tuesday appointing Alejandro Oxenford as the new Argentine ambassador to the United States. Oxenford's appointment had been pending since last November, but since his nomination had not been addressed in the Senate, the president decided to take the determination unilaterally.
Manuel Adorni, spokesperson for the head of state, announced the appointment through a statement, in which he stated: "Make America & Argentina Great Again". It is noteworthy that Oxenford's appointment is of a political nature, requiring Senate approval. However, as it had not been addressed in the upper chamber, Milei proceeded to sign the decree.
This decision occurred on the same day that the Government appointed judges Ariel Lijo and Manuel García-Mansilla as members of the Supreme Court of Justice, also by decree. This latter action has been heavily criticized by both the opposition and sectors considered "dialoguers".
