The Argentine president, Javier Milei, recently returned from a tour in the United States, where he held important meetings with international leaders. During his stay, he met with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Kristalina Georgieva, director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These meetings took place at a time when there was controversy over "Cryptogate."
One of the highlights of his trip was the meeting with Trump during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where the American president praised Milei's efforts in reducing inflation, expressing his pride in him. Additionally, the meeting with Georgieva aimed to advance negotiations for a new agreement between Argentina and the IMF, with the intention of obtaining an additional disbursement to strengthen the Central Bank's reserves and relax financial measures.
Upon his return to the country, Milei is preparing for his opening speech in the regular sessions of Congress, which will take place next Saturday. Although he does not have official activities this week, he will continue to hold meetings with his Cabinet and work on the details of his presidential message.
The government, for its part, will focus on debating key projects such as the Reform of the Penal Code and "positive discrimination," which seeks to modify aspects such as trans quotas and the Gender Identity Law at the formal start of the legislative period.
