Judges Dismiss Case Against Hotel Managers in Payne Investigation

The businessman and friend of Liam Payne, along with the hotel managers in the Palermo neighborhood, were cleared in the case investigating the death of the former One Direction singer in October of last year. Judges Julio Lucini and Hernán López, members of Chamber V of the Criminal and Correctional Court, announced that Rogelio Nores, Esteban Grassi, and Gilda Martín were cleared, despite having been charged weeks earlier.

This measure had been granted by Judge Laura Bruniard at the end of 2024, who, along with prosecutor Andrés Madrea, believed that the three accused had some responsibility in Payne's unexpected death in Argentina. Rogelio was charged with the crime of negligent homicide and abandonment. The same charge was also against Gilda Martín, the hotel manager, and Esteban Grassi, the person in charge of the establishment. The autopsy determined that Payne had a fatal cocktail in his body caused by the consumption of drugs, alcohol, and sertraline, a powerful antidepressant.

Following the judges' resolution, the three cleared individuals who were free are now removed from the investigation. Regarding Braian Nahuel Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra, a waiter and hotel employee respectively, they will continue to be charged and detained, accused of selling drugs to the victim.
