The Ministry of Security of Buenos Aires City, led by Waldo Wolff, issued a strong warning against police officers involved in prisoner escapes. The measure indicates that, whether by action or omission, these police officers will be transferred from active service to availability or passive status.
This decision affects those officers responsible for the custody of inmates in various police stations and detention centers at the time of an escape. In the event of a prisoner's evasion, the officers could face dismissal from the police force. The Argentine News Agency confirmed that the measure was formalized through Order No. 34 of the City Police.
The modification in service status will also mean that the officers will not be able to obtain or renew their legitimate user credentials (CLU) with institutional authorization. In the words of the official statement: "By order of the Minister of Security, all personnel are informed that anyone identified as responsible, either by action or omission, in the escape of persons legally deprived of liberty under the custody of the City Police, will automatically change their service status from active to PASSIVE or AVAILABILITY depending on their responsibility in the incident."
These measures were implemented in response to recent escapes that occurred in Buenos Aires City. On February 9, six inmates escaped from the Alcaidía 6 A in Caballito, of whom three have been recaptured. Subsequently, a prisoner escaped from the local police station 1D in the downtown area, followed by the escape of six inmates from the Local Police Station 3A on Monday, one of whom was recaptured.
