The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, admitted that the controversy triggered by President Javier Milei's promotion of the 'Viva la Libertad Project' generated 'noise' within the Government, despite attempts from the libertarian's environment to calm the situation. According to Francos, this event has had a huge impact and has caused discomfort in a Government that is trying to implement various economic policies and meet its forecasts.
In this regard, Francos emphasized that Milei, beyond his vehement personality, is an honest person who believed in the importance of promoting a project for Argentina. However, he pointed out that the way the promotion of the technological venture was carried out was not correct, which led the president to retract and dissociate himself from the project. Francos highlighted Milei's honesty and assured that, when he leaves his position, his wealth will not be inflated in the same way as other officials.
The Chief of Staff said that the collapse of Libra affected a group of people and called to focus attention on the economic announcements made by the Minister of Economy, Luis 'Toto' Caputo. Additionally, he stressed that what is important for the people is the evolution of the new Argentina that is being built. According to Francos, Milei's popularity is due to him adhering to a program focused on lowering inflation, something that the people demanded.
Regarding the political repercussions of the incident, Francos criticized the opposition for its calls for political trial and investigative commissions, especially directed against former president Cristina Kirchner. He assured that the current situation may have a transient impact and did not consider that the President promoted a scam. Finally, he guaranteed that he would defend Milei's integrity, in whom he fully trusted.
